Play With The Civic!

Are you a classical musician, eager for somewhere to perform and immerse yourself in music?

Individuals from many walks of life make up the Calgary Civic Symphony Orchestra, but we all have at least one thing in common: we are amateur musicians in the original sense of the word. Amateur is derived from the Latin term amātor, which describes an enthusiastic admirer/pursuer, devotee, or lover. We are, all of us, lovers of music and ardent in our pursuit of it. If this sounds like you, then we should talk!

Rehearsals

Practice is a necessity, so the Civic rehearses weekly from September to June. Specifically, we hold rehearsals on Mondays from 7:30 to 10:00 pm in the Jack Singer Rehearsal Hall (205 8th Avenue SE).

We may also have rehearsals that are open to a limited group of the public throughout the season. Stay tuned to our social media and newsletter for open rehearsal announcements.

Get in Touch!

If you’re interested in joining the orchestra, please fill out this application form, so that we can get to know you and your musical background! Once we’ve received your application, our personnel manager or a section lead will get in touch with you and let you know more information about the Civic and what’s required when becoming one of our playing members.  From there, we’ll talk about attending some rehearsals and any audition requirements.
