December and winter are upon us, and Calgarians each have their favourite way to respond.
For some, they’ve already hit the slopes, and the arrival of December means the snow will only get better. Still, others revel the festive season, and the holiday music piped into malls and shops is too much to resist. For them, there’s a thrill in the hunt for the perfect Christmas gifts for friends and family. Some of you are certain that only the most rugged of us are meant for this snow and cold. So, you’ve begun your hibernation or booked your flights to places where sun and sand fill the days.
Whatever your preferred winter management strategy is, friends of the Calgary Civic Symphony know those plans must be delayed for a few days yet. We know what December means, and we’ve been eagerly crossing off the days on our calendar. The Christmas Star concert has nearly arrived!
On Sunday, December 8, at the Jack Singer Concert Hall, the Calgary Civic Symphony will warm our hearts and delight us will holiday favourites, including Karl Jenkin’s Stella Natalis featuring Michelle Todd, Jay Michalak and Cum Vino Cantus.
Michelle, Jay and the Civic performed Stella Natalis to great acclaim. We are thrilled to welcome them back along with Cum Vino Cantus. Of course, they’ll join the orchestra in the second half for music that will fill you with joy and lift your spirits.
