Join us for the exciting start of this season’s voyages to exciting destinations as we embark on a journey taking us from seas to distant shores.
Our trip starts with stops in New York, Paris, and Athens, with a COVID-19 inspired program that features various sections of the orchestra and the introduction of our new concertmaster, Maria van der Sloot. After having recently presented several of the mighty Beethoven’s major works, including the 7th Symphony, the 4th Piano Concerto, and excerpts from Fidelio, the Civic closes its celebration of this giant’s 250th birthday with his ever-popular 5th Symphony. From its Fate motif of the first movement to its triumphant Finale, it seems like a fitting choice!
COPLAND – Fanfare for the Common Man
GOUNOD – Petite symphonie
MASSENET – Méditation from Thaïs
BEETHOVEN – Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67
