Build an Orchestra 2017!
CALGARY, AB, September 13, 2017 — Alberta Culture Days, the Calgary Civic Symphony and Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre, are pleased to announce our cooperation to bring “Build an Orchestra 2017” to the Calgary community.
On Sunday, October 1 from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm, the Civic returns with the wildly popular Build and Orchestra as part of Alberta Culture Days at Studio Bell (850 4th Street SE).
Adults and children will have the opportunity to visit with our orchestra members and look at musical instruments up close. In some cases, people will actually have the opportunity to try an instrument or take a selfie with the instrument! Build an Orchestra will be followed by a short concert.
Join us for this family-friendly event where music lovers of all ages can bang a drum, strum a harp, and meet musicians!
Admission to Studio Bell on October 1 is free for the first 500 visitors. Space is limited for the “Build an Orchestra” program and concert, so please arrive early to secure your spot. Stay after Build an Orchestra to explore the National Music Centre exhibitions and enjoy programming to celebrate Alberta Culture Days.

The Calgary Civic Symphony (CCS) has entertained Calgarians for over 40 years. Begun as a venue for non-professional or retired musicians to play orchestral music, the CCS has grown steadily in both numbers and artistic excellence. Although the CCS is a volunteer, not-for-profit organization, it is led by a small core of professional musicians and highly-acclaimed conductor/artistic director, Rolf Bertsch. Rolf is a former resident conductor of the Calgary Philharmonic and former conductor in residence of the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal. His inspiring programming, engaging style, and unique ability to build bridges has often been remarked upon by our players and audiences alike.
