Through this collaboration with the Hungarian Arts and Heritage Foundation of Alberta festival, “A Celebration of Franz Liszt”, we mark the 200th birthday of one of the most important and influential figures of the 19th Century. The uniquely exotic rhythms and colours of the music of Hungary will be presented by the orchestra and two brilliant pianists from Budapest’s Franz Liszt Academy.
Sharing the stage with a trio of Canada’s finest singers and two of Calgary’s best choirs, the orchestra presents one of the most renowned works in the entire repertoire, Carl Orff’s dazzling, decadent and glorious Carmina Burana.
